National Association for the Blind, Chandigarh has been declared the Best NGO in disability sector in Chandigarh by Cheshire Homes and Social Welfare dept who have instituted this award from this year onwards. It was a great honour for NAB Chandigarh as no such award had been given to any NGO in the last decade and the entire record of all the NGO for the last ten years was scrutinized before announcing this award. The award alongwith citation was presented on 17th March, 2013 to our President Sh Vinod Chadha by Sh Pawan Kumar Bansal, the then Union minister for Railway at a function organized at Bal Bhawan, sector-23, Chandigarh.

The Innovative Project for the Empowerment of the Blind Women was started on 15th November, 2006 at Aruna Asaf Ali Trust Building in Sector 44 A initially which was later shifted to Karuna Sadan in 2009. Blind women are provided transport to come from their homes and taught various Recreational & Training activities like Music, House hold Activities, mobility training and basic knowledge of Braille & Computers free of cost. This project is funded by Central Social Welfare Board, New Delh and will help the Blind to be independent and live the life of dignity.
